Christian Meier zu Verl is co-speaker of this network. He is a sociologist and works as a research assistant in the department of history and sociology at the University of Konstanz. He is also a member of the Center for Cultural Inquiry at the University of Konstanz and an associate member of the SFB 1187 Media of Cooperation at the University of Siegen. His PhD thesis, an ethnography of ethnography, empirically reconstructs the career of two ethnographic data—from the first observation in the field to the published article on the field. In his post-doctoral project “Alterity in Retirement Homes”, Christian Meier zu Verl videographically studies, among other things, practices of communication in interactions between people with dementia and technical care assistants. His research interests include dis-/ability studies, migration research, methodology of qualitative social research, as well as science and technology research. His most important publications include The Ageing Multicultural Society (Swiss Journal of Sociology), Data Careers and Epistemic Materiality (J.B. Metzler) and the publication of the special issue Ethnomethodology and Ethnography (Ethnographic Studies).
