After studying media studies at the Ruhr Universität Bochum, Jan Müggenburg was a member of the Doctoral Program “The Sciences in Historical Context” at the University of Vienna from 2006 to 2010. From 2010 to 2018 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Culture and Aesthetics of Digital Media at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. Jan received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Vienna in 2016. Since April 2018 he has been an Assistant Professor (Juniorprofessor) at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. He is PI of the project “Assistive Media”, funded by the German Research Foundation (2018–2021). Jan publishes and lectures about the history and epistemology of computing, cybernetics and bionics.
